Most agents now use AI. The first thing they use it for is the listing description.

NAR’s 2026 Technology Report shows how fast agents adopted AI in one year, and where. If you’re reading listings, that matters.

The National Association of Realtors released its 2026 Realtors Technology Report on September 22. The shift from last year is large. Only 12% of agents now say they don’t use AI and don’t plan to. In 2025 that number was 32%.

What agents use it for

  • Writing listing descriptions: 75%
  • Social media posts: 56%
  • Emails and follow-up messages: 52%
  • Market summaries: about 30%
  • Reviewing or summarizing documents: 27%

Why they do it: saving time (81%, up from 66%) and improving the client experience (71%, up from 64%). The biggest obstacles are the learning curve (63%) and cost (59%). Asked how clients react, 40% of agents said very positively and 37% said helpful, with reservations. An earlier Delta Media Group survey found that 97% of brokerage leaders said their agents use AI tools, up from 80% in 2024.
